Verified Commercial dry floodproofing (engineered barriers) St. Charles (Midwest office), IL · Great Lakes — Detroit, Twin Cities & Wisconsin

Geodesign Barriers, Inc.

The best-documented product certification in this category. Eighteen models are FM Approved under a single FM Approvals certificate, the same 18 appear on the ASFPM certified-products register, and two US Army Corps ERDC letter reports from February 2024 evaluate the Industrial P40 and Heavy Duty C48 independently.

Credentials & verification

Product certification
FM Approved, and the certificate is specific enough to check. FM Approvals issued a Certificate of Compliance for Flood Barriers for Perimeter Barrier Applications, Approval Identification PR453294, FM Approvals Class 2511, tested to FM Approval Standard Class Series 2510 (April 2019), granted September 20, 2022, signed by David Fuller, VP - Manager of Fire Protection, FM Approvals, Norwood, Massachusetts. It names 18 models: Industrial Series P24, P32, P40, P48, P61, P81, P101 and P121, and Heavy Duty Series C48, C60, C72, C84, C96, C122, C152, C184, C213 and C245. The same 18 models appear on the ASFPM Flood Mitigation Certification Program certified-products register, listed as nine paired entries rather than 18 rows. Two USACE ERDC letter reports document independent performance evaluation: ERDC/CHL LR-24-3 (Industrial P40) and ERDC/CHL LR-24-4 (Heavy Duty C48), both February 2024. One qualification we keep on the record: FM Approvals' own Approval Guide blocks automated lookups, so we read the certificate rather than the live register, and FM states the Approval remains subject to surveillance audits and field performance.

Our verification notes

FM Approval status resolved in August 2026 and upgraded from unverified to documented. We had recorded the FM Approved badge as unverified because FM Approvals' Approval Guide blocks automated lookups; the company then supplied the certificate itself (PR453294, Class 2511, September 20, 2022), which names all 18 models. We read the certificate rather than the live register, so the remaining caveat is that FM Approvals conditions the Approval on continuing surveillance audits. Note for readers comparing vendors: an ASFPM certified-products listing (certification to ANSI/FM 2510) and the FM Approved mark are different things, and this company holds both. Still open and deliberately not asserted: executive names and titles. The company's own US About page names Cecilia as CEO and Sam as Senior Field Engineer, while correspondence from Sam Kullberg signs as Director of Engineering, CFM and CEO of US operations, so no CEO is published until the company reconciles the two. The CFM credential is claimed, not verified, because ASFPM publishes no public per-name CFM roster and Illinois runs a chapter program without one. The company states its headquarters is 228 E 45th St, New York, with secondary offices in St. Charles, Illinois and Hobe Sound, Florida; the FM certificate carries a Hobe Sound address. We keep the entry in the Midwest because the St. Charles office is the staffed presence relevant to this region, and we still found no delivered Indiana installation, so the Midwest presence remains an office rather than built work. One Google review is statistically meaningless.
